The Affordable Care Act, also known as health care reform, has brought a number of important changes to the nation’s health care system in recent years. No major changes were made this year that will affect your Discover benefits.

The Health Insurance Marketplace

The Health Insurance Marketplace (also called the Health Insurance Exchange) is a website in your state where uninsured people can compare and buy health insurance. If you are eligible for medical coverage through Discover, the marketplace is not likely to change anything for you because you have access to affordable, quality coverage through Discover. Employees who are not eligible for health coverage through Discover will need to obtain coverage elsewhere. Although there is no longer a federal tax penalty for not having health insurance coverage, your state may impose its own penalty. For details, see the resources below.
